Find us in Stockbridge.
We're tucked along St Stephen Street, a short walk north-west of Princes Street and the heart of Edinburgh's New Town. Here's everything you need to find the door, plan your evening and settle in by the fire.
How to find us
We sit on the corner of one of Stockbridge's prettiest streets — look for the warm glow and the scent of woodsmoke. Call ahead any time; we're always happy to help you find your way.
Opening hours
Open Wednesday through Sunday, for lunch and dinner. We rest the fire on Mondays and Tuesdays.
Last seatings are taken around an hour before close, so the kitchen has time to send every plate at its best.
The Cellar, by the fire
Private dining — The Cellar
Below the dining room, our stone-walled cellar makes an intimate room of its own — candlelit, snug and entirely yours for the evening.
Seat up to 16 guests around one long table, or take the whole room for a standing reception of up to 60. We'll build a bespoke, fire-led set menu around the occasion, from £55 per person, and pour wines to match. There's a six-seat chef's counter upstairs, too, for those who'd rather watch the flame up close.
Getting here
Stockbridge is an easy stroll or a short ride from the city centre. However you're arriving, here's how to reach the door.
By bus & tram
Stockbridge is a short hop from the city centre and Princes Street, with several Lothian Buses routes stopping nearby on Raeburn Place and Kerr Street. The tram runs along Princes Street, a 10-minute walk away.
Parking
There's limited metered street parking on and around St Stephen Street, with a few longer-stay bays nearby. Evening restrictions ease after 6pm, so dinner parking is usually kinder than lunch.
On foot & by bike
It's a pleasant 10–15 minute walk down from Princes Street through the New Town, mostly downhill on the way in. There are cycle racks on the street, and the Water of Leith path runs close by for two-wheeled arrivals.
Good to know
We do — we always keep a handful of counter seats back for walk-ins, so it's well worth dropping by, especially earlier in the evening. Tables fill quickly at weekends, though, so for a guaranteed spot we'd suggest booking ahead.
Gladly. Tell us about any dietary needs or allergies when you book and we'll do our very best to look after you. Please do flag serious allergies in advance — ours is an open-fire kitchen where smoke and shared grills are part of the cooking, so a little notice lets us prepare safely.
Yes — well-behaved little ones are very welcome until early evening, and we're happy to adapt dishes for younger appetites. From around 8pm the room settles into a quieter, candle-lit mood that suits later, grown-up dining.
Well-behaved dogs are welcome in the bar area, where there's always a water bowl waiting. We can't take them through to the main dining room or The Cellar, but they're more than happy company for a drink and a snack by the door.
The main dining room is step-free from the street, and there's an accessible WC on the same level. The one exception is The Cellar, our private room, which is reached down a flight of stairs. Let us know what you need when you book and we'll make sure you're comfortable.
For something special, you're welcome to bring your own bottle by arrangement — just have a word when you book and we'll apply a small corkage fee per bottle. Our own list leans low-intervention and local, so do ask the team if you'd like a pairing instead.

We'll keep a table warm.
Whether it's two of you by the counter or sixteen down in The Cellar, we'd love to have you. Wednesday through Sunday, lunch and dinner — come and sit by the fire.
